Turn Your Live Resin Into Vape Cartridges: DIY Liquid Live Resin

This method for turning live resin into cartridges will preserve the delicious and powerful blend of terpenes in your concentrate. Live resin is a form of extraction that utilizes fresh, undried/uncured, flower. The resulting extract is filled with very volatile terpenes that would be lost over the typical drying and curing process. In order to preserve these terpenes we will need to avoid heating them as much as possible. While this guide may be a bit more involved than others you have seen, the end product will be of superior quality.

Ingredients & Equipment

– Live resin
Centrifuge
Scoopula
Pyrex beaker
Hot plate / Oven
Cup warmer
Glass syringe
510 Cartridges
– Distillates (Optional)
Terpenes (Optional)

Directions

1) Weigh out the live resin into the centrifuge vials. Keep in mind the centrifuge must be balanced. You can use water to fill the vial to the same weight on the opposite side if you do not have enough resin to process. Improperly balancing a centrifuge can damage the machine and lead to injuries.
2) Allow the resin to centrifuge for 1-2 hours at 4000rpm. You might need to adjust this time depending on the consistency of your live resin. Once the THCa crystals have fully separated from the liquid high terpene extract (HTE), pour off the liquid into a glass container and seal it.
3) Scrape out the THCa crystals from the bottom of the centrifuge tube into the pyrex beaker using a scoopula. Seal the top of the beaker and place onto a heat source to decarboxylate it. If you need help with this step please see our decarboxylation guide.
4) Once the THCa has been fully decarbed, remove it from the heat source and place it on a cup warmer. At this point you can add in any additional distillates if you decide to and homogenize the solution.
5) Add the HTE back to the THCa oil and homogenize thoroughly (keep the solution on the cup warmer). Depending on your live resin source you may need to add 1-4% terpenes to help with the oil viscosity.
6) Once your solution is thoroughly homogenized use the glass syringe to fill the 510 cartridges. Allow the cartridges to sit 24 hours before using.

HowToWeed Made a Great Video on This Topic

Notes

HowToWeed outlines the process in a very similar manor in his video. The only main adjustment he used was centrifuge tubes with filters built in. Due to this change the HTE will result below the layer of THCa. According to the results in the video this appears to work even better and I would recommend it if  you can work them into your centrifuge.
